Altered is set in a world created entirely from scratch for this card game and characterized by an intriguing story, to be discovered card after card.
In a reality where a cataclysm brought creatures from other places and even from imagination or dreams into the world, humans settled on the peninsula of Asgartha, then sealed its borders to protect themselves from the dangers outside. Centuries later, however, they are finally ready to step beyond the gates again and explore the altered lands that were once their world, guided by the powers of the Heroes and their Companions, bound by their imagination and the ability to use it to influence the world.
Over time, many individuals have found connection and communion in their intentions and interests, giving shape to Factions that represent the variety of society and the collective efforts put into rediscovering the world. Each Hero is part of one of these Factions and faces the challenges that the world offers them in the unique way that this entails. The Factions of Altered, which also define the affinity of each deck, are:
Axiom: Creators of Wonders and Innovative Technologies
Bravos: Heroes born, brave and free
Lyra: artists and creatives in constant movement
Muna: Guardians in Deep Connection with Nature
Ordis: protectors of order and defenders of justice
Yzmir: Scholars of the Arcane and the Unknown
