You are a novice dragonologist in the world of Wyrmspan, where dragons of every shape, size, and color roam the skies.
Dragons of every shape, size, and color roam the skies of Wyrmspan. Attract these magnificent creatures by digging them an underground labyrinth where they can nest and breed, safe from harm. As a dragonologist, your mission is to expand the three underground caves—the Crimson Cavern, the Shining Cavern, and the Amethyst Abyss—and build a magical preserve where you can capture and care for dragons. Collect the dragons’ favorite food and play them in your caves; make the most of their abilities, chaining together powerful skills and earning the favor of the Dragon Guild.
What are the differences with Wingspan?
- To perform actions you need to pay coins and often eggs (not action cubes).
- Explore the caves from left to right to activate abilities (not from right to left).
- Your board has two nest icons right from the start (even before you play a dragon).
- Start the game with 4 cards (choosing from a set of 3 dragons and 3 caves) and any 3 resources.
- Get 6 coins and 1 egg at the start of each round (four rounds total).
- You can pay 2 resources to get 1 in exchange at any time (not just when you play a card).
- You must dig a cave space before you can lure (play) a dragon into that space; you start the game with 3 spaces already dug.
- Card abilities are optional, but if an ability gives an opponent a bonus, he or she can get it even if you choose not to benefit from it.
- At the end of each of your turns, you can keep a maximum of 9 coins, 9 cards, and 9 Resource tokens, discarding anything in excess.
- Points for the end-of-round objective are awarded in a friendly manner.
